Biking your way through Venice

If you think that Venice is only for pedestrians  and that crossing  it involves a lot of climbing up and down stairs and bridges, well think again! And if you believe that in order to move a bit faster you must definitely hop on a ‘vaporetto’ I have news for you: you can also bike in Venice!

While this is not exactly true for the main town (yes, there are tons of bridges and there is barely any space other than that used by pedestrians) you can get away from the crowd and enjoy it all, perched on a bike, if you go towards the islands surrounding Venice. Continue reading

Biking along the tulip fields of Holland (or how I lost my camera the day I needed it the most)

During my long weekend spent in Amsterdam and its surroundings, we decided to rent a bike on a Sunday morning and have a blast among the tulip fields. It was a beautiful sunny day at the beginning of May so I thought it was the perfect way to spend the day. We bought a map with all the bike trails from the turist information centre (I believe it was something like 5-6 euros) and headed towards the train station. Continue reading

I ‘heart’ bike

When I think about my childhood I don’t remember being an unruly child, running away from home, breaking things or doing anything adventurous. I was more of a quiet, shy girl who used to spend her time reading. I didn’t even have a bike or feel the need of riding one and when I saw one of the other kids riding around I remember thinking of biking as something slightly dangerous and thought better to steer clear.
